The girl next door!

Conventions are what are the things associated with the song or genre. Maggie Lindemann's music is classified as rock and pop but there are different branches to it. Pop branches out onto vocal pop, pop, and dance pop this then branches out and gives a description of the song based on the genre. The song I choose was the 'girl next door' by Maggie Lindemann in this case it would be considered Alternative and Indie they are forms of Rock music. Lindemann nowadays mainly does indie, alternative, pop, pop rock and she sings her own music and writes it as well. Maniac from Conan Gray is also classified as alternative and Indie. He is a well known artist in the industry nowadays due some of songs gaining serious traction and making him a huge artist. They both elements of guitar and similar beats. The lyrics tell a descriptive story on a event. Maniac is from a perspective what looks like an ex partner spreading lies and being desperate in some cases. The ex partner saying that they are the victim. The girl next door tells a story of a girl going through a tough time but from the neighbor watching her; the neighbor being curious about what happened to the girl next door but in reality she's the girl next door.


Costumes: I am also going to put a ton of emphasis on the lyrics and using the lyric video. There is a part of the video that says "She's still wearing the same clothes" so the actor would wear the same costume the whole video. I imagine since it says she is still wearing the same clothes that they are ripped or dirty or both.


Lighting: The girl next door doesn't have a music video but it has a lyric video. The lyric video gives us the mood of the video. The lighting is bright but the overlay is some sort of VHS. The video looks surreal and dream like. The lighting will have to dream like and sort of like a sun set. Editing will be key to achieve all of this because I do want to add a VHS overlay to it and change the lighting of the video.


Acting: I'm be using some of Conan Gray's and Maggie Lindemann's music videos in order to draw up an idea on how the music video should look for the girl next door. I do know for a fact that music videos of these artist focus on the lyrics and act out the emotion.


Makeup: The makeup will look like she disregards it and will look sort of messy. Due to the fact that it says she is wearing the same clothes and she never comes home we can assume that she is a walking mess.


Props: The song mentions a cherry coke that she is drinking so that will be part of the video in order to give the video more detail. I want to add house keys or something along the lines to show she never comes home. A mirror is also something I will be needing because there is a lyric that says "she looks like me".


Set: The first scene will contain an empty road because of the lyric "stumbling 'cross the road". I then want to show the sun going down and it reaching night. Then cut to the actor's empty room to show she never goes home. This will then cut to the actor in front of the mirror in the actor's room to show that they are the girl next door.




There is probably more research that needs to be done in order to get the exact product, and I will continue to do research.

Storyboard

My storyboard of the girl next door! Scene 1: This will be the first scene and this is where the main actor will appear. It will fade in from black to sync with the audio since it also fades in. It will be at eye level and it will be a close up to show to emphases the subject's eyes because of a lyric "red eyes". The set will be a road in order to cut into the next scene. Scene 2: After it cuts away from the close up we move into a medium long shot at eye level. The actor will be drinking a cherry coke and be stumbling along the road. The medium long shot is to show that she is still wearing the same clothes according to the lyrics. Scene 3: This scene she is up against the bedroom door looking distress. This will be at eye level and it will start at as a close up then zoom out in order to transition into the next scene. She is in this position because she is wondering about a certain thing, that thing being something unpleasant. Scene 4: The next scene will pan into her...

Almost!

We are almost done! As of writing this we are almost finished. We had completed filming around a week ago. Now we are so close to finish editing. Like we said previously, we were to continue adding the footage together so then we can make it easier when it came to transitions and audio. We have put in the title cards, and are only missing a few. For the title cards that we have done, we have added transitions for a couple to the title cards and only a footage is left to edit and put together. Right now we are moving things around, because we are slightly worried about the time limit but so far we haven't crossed it. But again there is that slight worry! We do have a way around it if it were to happen. We have sort of an idea of which scenes we can cut from the footage. We also can speed up footage and cut down some footage in order to make time.
