The Editing Ends!

Image
Lighting is everything in my opinion! This the second half of editing. To say the least I mainly focused on the lighting, the length and height of the video, plus the effects that it make it look like a VHS. So the first thing I did was change the color. I upped the temperature and saturation. I also lowered the tint as well in order to make it look kind of soft. Now the lighting, which I need to get right. Let's start with the first thing I raised which is the contrast. The thing I didn't change was the highlights and shadows since it didn't look right when I raised it or lowered it. But I did lower the whites more than the blacks in order to achieve the soft look with just the lighting. I did this with every clip so it looks the same and no clips look out of place. The next thing I did in order to enhance that it looks like it was filmed by a vintage camera. So I added Noise which made the video have a grainy look to it. I also found that Channel Blur worked well. It ad

The Editing Begins!

This is going to save everything! Let's start with the first thing I did, I downloaded all the raw footage. I then put it into Adobe Premiere Pro because I have that at my disposal. When I started this, I knew I had one thing in mind which was to get the footage to get into a sequence with the music. I downloaded the music then which I think I should've done earlier but here we are. I found this quite difficult because I didn't want the music to just cut during the lyrics. I looked for the best place to cut the audio and I did.  This came with another problem, I wanted the music to fade out and fade in. So, I added the affects in the front and the end in order to this.  So, that is what I did. I put everything in order so it goes with the storyboard and the lyrics along with the beat of the music. I cut and trimmed everything so it would fit. I also trimmed down the height and the length of the footage because I want it to look like it came out of a VHS tape so black bord

My thoughts on the filming!

Image
Lethologica. I can't even remember the words to describe my thoughts on the filming. I am going to just say it, I don't like being filmed. My friends do try to take pictures of me but I just run away because I just don't like it. Ever since I was little I hated taking pictures or videos! It is embarrassing to me, and I try to stay away from phones and cameras. To say the least this was difficult, every single shot was embarrassing for me to film. The good thing about this was that I knew if I wanted to get this over with, I needed to do everything right. This came with a disadvantage of course, since I tried to get it over with quickly. Due to that fact I didn't have as much shots to make me comfortable with the results. This is 100% going to lead to problems later. Right now, I am hoping and praying that editing does the magic. This music video does relay on mainly editing, things light lighting and filters will be added during this time. So throughout the whole time

The Filming Ends!

Image
That is a wrap! Today was difficult. I mentioned the last time that I thought it wasn't going to be as difficult but I was proven horribly wrong. Today I was filming the shots that are inside of a bedroom of the actor and the one that has to do with the door and mirror. I will go in order from which ones I filmed. The first scene was the one of her up against the door. This then it panning into her room to show her room that is completely untouched. The scene of the actor up against the door was fairly easy it took around 5 takes which wasn't bad. The room panning into her room and it panning around to show her room, I think was the easiest today which took around 2-3 takes. The camera then stops at the window and I cut it there. I then record around 10 second video of the window which then I will add text through editing. The next scene was the sunset and it getting dark which can easily be filmed so I am not worried about it. The next scene is her in her bedroom it looks lik

The Filming Begins!

ACTION! Today I started filming and I knew which scenes I needed to do in order to get them done as quickly as possible. The first thing I did was get into costume, I wore a jacket and jeans with messy makeup and hair. The takes I wanted to do first was the ones filmed on the road since in my opinion are the ones that are complicated. I need to put more thought into them and think how they were gonna transition from the other scenes. The main reason for this was for the video to have smooth transitions but at the same time chaotic which can be done with editing. The first scene I did was one of the car window since I needed to get to a location first, so on the way there I filmed that. The video is compromised from buildings, the view from the window, and roads all moving in a fast pace. I got to my location shortly after and toke the first scene which was a close up scene to show the actor and just to establish who the actor is. I took around 4-5 takes with the scene. I then moved on

Storyboard

My storyboard of the girl next door! Scene 1: This will be the first scene and this is where the main actor will appear. It will fade in from black to sync with the audio since it also fades in. It will be at eye level and it will be a close up to show to emphases the subject's eyes because of a lyric "red eyes". The set will be a road in order to cut into the next scene. Scene 2: After it cuts away from the close up we move into a medium long shot at eye level. The actor will be drinking a cherry coke and be stumbling along the road. The medium long shot is to show that she is still wearing the same clothes according to the lyrics. Scene 3: This scene she is up against the bedroom door looking distress. This will be at eye level and it will start at as a close up then zoom out in order to transition into the next scene. She is in this position because she is wondering about a certain thing, that thing being something unpleasant. Scene 4: The next scene will pan into her

Details! In order to set a couple things straight. I need to read the lyrics and listen to the song in order to get a better on understanding on the Mis-En-Scene. Such as the costume and makeup, in order to give the mood of the song and try to give the song justice one way or another. Props: I will be using a variety of props due to the song's lyrics since I will be putting more emphasis on them. A cherry coke will the first prop that will be shown, followed by house keys, a messy desk with a chair, and then last a mirror. , Costumes:  The actor will wear a baggy sweater and jeans which are either ripped or dirty in order to symbolize that she never comes home. The actor's hair will be messy and all over the place. The make will look like the actor has not gotten any sleep or was crying recently. They will wear a simple shoes such as converse or shoes that are simply dirty. Schedule: 11/14/2022, I researched the conventions the props I will be needing along with other possibl

The girl next door! Conventions are what are the things associated with the song or genre. Maggie Lindemann's music is classified as rock and pop but there are different branches to it. Pop branches out onto vocal pop, pop, and dance pop this then branches out and gives a description of the song based on the genre. The song I choose was the 'girl next door' by Maggie Lindemann in this case it would be considered Alternative and Indie they are forms of Rock music. Lindemann nowadays mainly does indie, alternative, pop, pop rock and she sings her own music and writes it as well. Maniac from Conan Gray is also classified as alternative and Indie. He is a well known artist in the industry nowadays due some of songs gaining serious traction and making him a huge artist. They both elements of guitar and similar beats. The lyrics tell a descriptive story on a event. Maniac is from a perspective what looks like an ex partner spreading lies and being desperate in some cases. The e

Me, Myself, and I! I am working with no one due to some reasons. I decided to work alone because I want more control over the entire project. I also, I won't have the pressure of letting down other people. I want to choose the song I want and I have a vision on how it might work out. We all decided not to work together because some of us wanted more control or wanted to work with someone who is convenient, in this sense, someone who lives nearby. I also have some additional reasons on working alone! I work at my own pace, with the group I felt like we were going so quick I wasn't able to keep up. For instance, I won't need someone else's approval in order to do something. I also want a challenge this is a good one, and I think if I put enough time or effort into this I will be satisfied with the outcome. The biggest reason was is the pressure of my teammates and the possibility of not doing enough. Moving onto why I am working alone and not with people. The song I cho

Hello, I'm back!  My name is Kaylie Estrada-Menjivar, but my friends call me Kay. This time I'm ack with a 2nd project and that is a music video. I'm kind of scared but excited at the same time because I do love music but I think personally I'm not creative. There are times that I can't sleep due to me having creative outbursts in order for me to sleep I just draw something and hope it goes well. But again I am skeptical because I need to be smart with the song I am choosing in my opinion. I might be going to New York so I might use that to my advantage in a way. I have so many ideas but I need to travel for them. I do enjoy traveling because you get to experience different cultures and possibly learn different languages. Not to mention the food and the overall culture, it sounds amazing. The amazing different places such as Japan, South Korea, Albania, and Malta. Since, I can’t really travel, I travel in video games! I know this sounds weird but think about an op
