Creative Critical Reflection

Image
Time to reflect! 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?      Usually when it comes to Dunkin' Donuts and how they advertise their items is very distinctive. Their way of advertising is short but gets people attention overall it tends to keep a low profile in the media. Every commercial has their logo and catchphrase, not to mention they are simple and straightforward for anyone to understand. They have locations everywhere which would make people curious and go buy products from them, this would then become an endless loop. 2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?            They do tons of charity of work; they donate meals to shelters and donate funds to foundations for children. This does help them with their reputation of being a "good" company. From what I've seen online from Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms they do pos

Production : Time and Patience!

It took time and patience but we did it! At the moment we are doing the last things in order to finish editing. I've been not doing great with everything so I missed school for a couple days but I should be fine now. While I was absent my group members have been hard at work and I've been trying to keep up. They are nice enough to inform me of current updates with other classes and how everything is coming along, so I am thankful for that. But in the days I was gone, Sara S, who is editing said she is basically finished just needs a little more things to do. She had to make sure the volume for each scene fit with each other, that the transitions are fluid, and of course other things we think or she thinks need to be changed. One of the first things she caught as the second song was a bit louder than the first. In order for them to sound even, she lowered the volume on the second and upped the first song's volume. This made the songs connect more fluidly and made everythin

Production : Let's Start Editing!

Editing...A time consuming process! So, luckily we finished filming the same day we started which was advantage. Only two of us were able to go out of the four, Sarah R and I didn't go due to some issues. But again we were lucky that Emma T and Sara S finished the same day. We all decided that Sara S would do the editing since she had the most experience in that field and had the equipment needed. She discussed what she had in mind to us and we all liked the idea. With that, let me give you a quick run down. She wanted the beach scenes to get more attention than the ones with a plain white background. She did this by making the beach scenes look more vibrant by rising the vibrance and warmth and did the opposite for the scenes before eating the doughnut. So when she ate the doughnut those scenes after would look much joyful and fulfilling. Multiple angles were shot that day of filming just incase we needed them. She told us first she choose the shots that looked the best and that

That's a wrap!

Action! It finally begins. So, filming started on October 5th and finished the same day! Which is fantastic because we have so much more to do. Let me give you a run down of the circumstances and a couple issues our group ran into. Before setting a date we had difficulty setting a date since we are all busy but we found out that 2 of us were able to go film that day. Two of us weren't able to go since we ran into problems but we avoided that issue. There was only one actor, they were a sister of our group member Sara S; who was the person also provided for the doughnuts we needed that day. The first scene was shot on a beach, but my group ran into a couple issues already. The sand was uneven so the simple location was to move to a new location, which was on a sidewalk with the beach in the background and a palm tree overhead. So the location was fixed, but we soon realized that it was odd to shot a close up of the actor. In order for now to be odd we just used a long shot instead

Storyboard

Our Storyboard! Scene 1:      The First scene is a medium close-up at eye level and will begin against a white wall. The actor will wear a white shirt and jeans without any obvious make-up. We chose to use neutral lighting to convey the blandness of the shot. They will use body language to coney boredom using a yawn, a sigh, etc whichever is the most convincing acting. This scene does not include our product because the introduction of the product builds excitement later. Scene 2:     This is where the product will be introduced. The setting, costumes, and actor remain the same in this scene. We will introduce our prop, a box of Dunkin' Donuts with a focus of brighter light on the doughnuts, but the lighting still remains relatively neutral.  This pans to follow the  actor’s arm as they grab a doughnut. The entire section is a close-up at a high angle to show  the most appealing view of the doughnuts. This serves to introduce the excitement of the  product Scene 3:      This pans
