Planning Blog: Location, Participants, Health, and Schedule!

It's that time again! Location:     There are few different places that Sarah and I would like to film. We think that a park is going to be a main location. We are also planning to use a bedroom as another locations. We might use a living room and a dining room. Our two main locations are going to be at a house and a park in Fort Lauderdale.  Participants:      I am going to ask a few of my friends. I am also planning to ask one of my cousins. We do not know if they are going to agree to help us. But, we are hoping they are. I myself may make an appearance. Sarah is going to behind the scenes.  Health:      We can minimize contact with each other. If one of us is sick, we can reschedule one of our filming days or the one that is sick can stay home. We can wash our hands before and after we film. We can also use hand sanitizers. We can also try and clean each prop after each use.  Schedule:     We are panning to do our title design by February 28, 2023. We are also planning to do o

Title Design

Image
Red for blood, because what else would we use? The opening credits of our film will appear in Viner Hand ITC font that fades in and out on the bottom of the screen while the title will appear towards the middle of the screen. All these credits will be infront of a black screen in order to look more ominous.  These credits will be sometimes triggered by sound cues or cutaways, something will trigger the credits. Working Title: The film is has a high chance to be called "Hysterics", "Perfectly Unstable", and . The title will also be in all caps and in bold. It will depend on a couple things if we change the color but for now the color is white in order to remain visible to the eye. Example: HYSTERICS Time: These titles would as short as 2 seconds and long as 5 seconds, nothing more. The name of the film will last at least 5 seconds. Names Size/Design: The name will be 10 points larger than the title of the job they do. When it comes to names of the actors their last n

Title Research: Art of the Title Website and Watch the Title Websites

Image
Research Time! On this website, we saw a design of a man with little drawings and bright colors. Sarah and I also say that there were different title sequences that can be viewed. We researched different font designs that movie editors use to promote the characters and people who help make the movie. We also researched the different ways to include titles in the movie. We saw that different genres of movies uses different title art. In those same genres, different movies have different title art. The title art depends on how the producers feel like. Sarsh and I are studying this website so we can have an idea of what kind of title art we are going to do for our opening sequence. We are also looking at the different places where the title sequences are so that we can have an idea of where we want to place ours. This website has given us a few good ideas of how we want to set our title designs up and where we want to put our title sequences. On this website, we saw a design of a women a

Movie Convention: Girl in the Picture

Image
Girl in the Picture Sarah and I might use the monologue where a narrator explains the story. As soon as the movie started to play, a narrator started to tell the story of the girl was found and where she ended up. It started along side a highway using an areole shot. Kaylie and I can not do that, but we would like to try. But, the bird's eye view is a great idea because you get a view of a scene a lot better. But then, it jumps into laying in a field of grass not moving. The narrator says the girl is dead, but as the opening goes on, the girl is alive but dies in the hospital.    Sarah and I like how there was a jump cut from a calm day to a panicked day. It gives of a sense of where did it go wrong? We also liked how they put the crime scene at the very beginning. We are probably planning to have our opening sequence similar to this one. We also liked the narrator because he explains what is happening. It gave off a "Is she alive?" kind of vibe. Which is the vibe you w

Movie Conventions: Lost Girls

Image
Lost Girls Sarah and I might use the paper trick where there was a signature on it. As soon as the movie started to play, there was a brown paper with a typed signature appearing on it. Then, a field shows up with some titles started showing up.  That is a great idea because people would think that this is an innocent move and not a true crime movie. But then, it jumps into a girl running on the road, phone in her hand, and a car chasing her down the road. This gets people thinking, what is the girl running from?     Sarah and I like how there was a jump cut from a calm day to a panicked night. It gives of a sense of where did it go wrong? We also liked how they put a few titles through out the opening sequence. We are probably planning to have our opening sequence similar to this one. We also liked the car chasing the girl. It gave off a "I am about to get harmed" kind of vibe. Which is the vibe you want to get in a true crime movie.  Sarah and I dislike how there was a clam

Movie Conventions: Capturing the Killer Nurse

Image
Capturing the Killer Nurse In the beginning, there is an establishing shot of inside a hospital. They use some monologue. We might of those ideas. It is good way to building suspense. The high angle and the jump cuts to a few moments into the future are good ideas to, especially when the camera is focusing on a sleeping patient on a hospital bed and a black figure past in front of the camera. That also help build suspense and gets the audience wondering who or what the black shadow was. Sarah and I might use these conventions when filming our opening sequence.  The conventions we like the most was the establishing shot of the empty hallway of the hospital. There are also a few minor details like the slow walking that we think is a great idea. In the opening sequence, there were a lot going on. At the same time, not to much is going on. It is like a mixture that helps create suspense before something happens. We also liked how the figure passed by. That gets Sarah and I wondering who

Our Decision: True Crime

Image
The winner is True Crime! If our opening is based on a true crime, we would start our film with someone walking in a hallway of some sort. They would walk around with a knife in there hand. We would film the lower half of the person, then we would see the person with a knife stab an innocent, unsuspecting victim, which is one of his/her friend. Blood would splatter around. Then, cops would come and investigate the crime scene. We came to this conclusion because it most likely fits our pitch that Sarah and I decided on.  If our opening is based on the romance genre, then we would have a girl's lover lying in a pool of their own blood. As the opening goes on, all of the girl's loved ones would drop dead. Her friends would be murdered. Every time she fell in love, she would be forced to watched her loved one and friend's life be taken by a masked killer. We came to this conclusion because we wanted to incorporate some romance in it but have our pitch show.  If our opening is

Our Pitch

Image
Our Pitches Pitch 1: A group of friends involved in a murder, no evidence that they commited the crime. Their minds start eating away at them, will they break? We wanted to do something along the lines of a murder mystery, especially Sarah, for me it didn’t feel right because I felt like something was missing. I wanted to do teen drama and mental illnesses, so we thought about it and just combined the ideas together in order to compensate both of us. We thought a group of teens commit a crime, that crime being murder or homicide, and they start losing their minds with basically the pressure that their life can be over if they get caught and found guilty. We could easily do this since there are multiple ways to do it, in other words it’s flexible. We can add conversations through text to make it feel more realistic and calls between them etc. The whole idea is a group of teens losing their minds and just being paranoid that even the smallest piece of evidence can be found or something

Alone, again?!

Image
Alone? Short story, I am not working alone. I am working with Sarah R, which you might of heard of her. I worked with her on the first assingment; the commercial! Let me summarize why I am working with someone and not alone. I am not creative enough, in my opinion, I am not so I would rather have someone who can help me with that department. Second, the obvious, less work for both of us plus it makes things automatically much easier.  As I mentioned, I am working with Sarah R. Again the reason I am working with her is because I have worked with her before. Additionally, I've gotten to known her better since that time since I only had recently met her at the time. Sarah R is also really nice to the point where it is kind of hard to believe. To this day I am shocked of her kindess. Not to mention her work ethic is on another level, it is truly uncomparable. As of writing this, we are going through ideas on what we should do for this 2 minute video but we have a couple things in stone

*Poof* I'm back!

Image
I'm back! Hello, let me introduce myself (just in case you forgot), my name is Kaylie Estrada-Menjivar but you can call me Kay. Additionally, I am a student at Fort Lauderdale High School. For the past school year, I've worked on a commercial and a music video, which was intresting and I larned countless of things while doing those assignments. At the end of the day I appriciate all things I learned even though it was difficult. Both of those assignments proved difficult in different areas. For instance, I worked alone on the music video but on the commercial, I didn't. Which of course gave me more with the music video but it was less frustrating for me because I had full control and I didn't need any conformination on anything, which is nice. I still enjoyed it and I would like to do it again. Anyways, let me tell you about more about myself espcially since this is a sort of mini introduction and a foreshadowing of how I am going to do this assignment. Let me establi
