Movie Conventions: Lost Girls
Lost Girls
Sarah and I might use the paper trick where there was a signature on it. As soon as the movie started to play, there was a brown paper with a typed signature appearing on it. Then, a field shows up with some titles started showing up. That is a great idea because people would think that this is an innocent move and not a true crime movie. But then, it jumps into a girl running on the road, phone in her hand, and a car chasing her down the road. This gets people thinking, what is the girl running from?
Sarah and I like how there was a jump cut from a calm day to a panicked night. It gives of a sense of where did it go wrong? We also liked how they put a few titles through out the opening sequence. We are probably planning to have our opening sequence similar to this one. We also liked the car chasing the girl. It gave off a "I am about to get harmed" kind of vibe. Which is the vibe you want to get in a true crime movie.
Sarah and I dislike how there was a clam and peaceful scene right before the car chasing. We think it would be better if the movie had introduced the car chasing scene as soon as the movie started. It would be after the title opener. It would give some people a little jump scare because they would not expect that type of scene so soon. We also did not like the girl that was running in the middle of the road. She could have run to the other side. She could have also ran in the opposite direction and gave the car chasing her a good chase.
Signing Off,
Kay.
