Some elements that Sarah and I liked was the shots that they used. We also liked how the ambient sounds to set the scene. Sarah and I might use non-diegetic sounds, low angle, high angle, tracking shots, and tilts. Those seem the easiest to use when filming a thriller film because those actually help set the scene. We also like the establishing shots that some thriller movies used.
We both do not like the extreme close up. Most people like to see the small details but not to close up to the point of where we can see the unnecessary details. We also did not like the back lighting. In some of the thriller films that we watched there were small details that were specific to the movies that we watched that we also did not like. For example, in The Invitation, we both did not like how the in the the beginning, the girl jumped off the stair railing. We both get that it is suppose to be like that, but it was a little obvious that they were kind of acting. We also noticed that it is going to be a trigger to some people. Some people may also feel uncomfortable watching the beginning of the movie.
Signing Off,
