  Holding my breath! Aisha Amin is the director of Rumi which about a muslim-american college student going to a modeling casting but deals with the promblematic issues that these type of people deal with in the industry. The film gave us a captivating part of this girl's life especically the stigma that muslims deal with on daily basis. Sound as always plays a huge part but in this short film, but it does rely on diegetic sounds. Footsteps, conversations, and cars in traffic can be heard. The only time where non-diegetic sound is used is when scenes get uncomfortable. The most notable part of the film is when the girl's hijab is almost taking off by someone for a picture. During this time the suspenseful music kicks in and close ups are shot. Close-ups are used to the sky in thrillers because they do make everyone uncomfortable.    Spirits The director Vanessa Beletic created a moody atmosphere fitting for the story. It uses digetic sound and non-diegetic which enhances scenes. Especially when she is focused or talking to herself, and sometimes a demonic like voice is heard. Uses sounds to cut through scenes, but it then goes back to the orginal, this occurs 2 times; it builds tension to say the least. There also times were it is completely quiet of non-diegetic sounds; its just filled with conversations, and shoes squeaking on the floor. When the film begins you are confronted with 2 people extremely close shaking, but the angles used are extreme close ups of different parts of the body; hands, backs, and heads. Films that fall into the thriller genre are there to build tension and especially make the auidence uncomfortable.    Niche To do weird things! Let me explain, you want to create niche ideas. One way of doing this is doing the least common and more particular thing. Let tension build if it is needed and theme is key in building your story. It is to do the opposite of what the audience is thinking. If the audience is expecting a jump scare, don't do the jump scare. Let the tension build and put the jumpscare later. This does in turn helps build the story and progress the story along. This same idea continues in everything; payoffs is one of things. This is much more common thing, such as something traumitizing happens in the begining and towards the middle-end there is an emotional scene. Typical stuff like this is used but you just have to be creative in every single aspect.    Time to analyze! Both films did an amazing job at conveying their story. The audio in La Jetée by Chris Maker helps the visuals of the film appear open. Using audio in short films will be a great aid since again you have a time frame. Using these aspects of films that is usually disregarded will be the key to convey emotions, help set the scene, and progress the plot. 12 Monkeys by Terry Gilliam is inspired by La Jetée which makes the plot intresting. 12 Monkeys uses a red hearing which creates a twist in the film. Right after we find out a majory revelation that makes the auidence in disbelief. 12 Monkeys took risks and told a story whether it can be compared to La Jetée is question due to La Jetée itself. Using sound will be a great help to me and fowarding the plot.   9 The short film isn't completely different from the full length but the most notable difference is how the plot progresses. The main reason for this is the time you have. Due to this you have to result to unconventional ways to tell a story, and this is what seperates short films from your longer and much more common film. Everything develops at different rates, such as character development will be on the quicker side with a unique twist to it. In this case there is absouletly no dialogue! This does in turn help the watcher pay much more attention to the actions of the character since again no one or nothing is speaking.  There is sound and music which helps in progressing the story and the characters. With the full version of the film you have the full hour and nineteen to explain the story with much more details and progression is slower.    Thriller. From the research I've done and movies I have watch, thriller is my choice. For the sole reason that I am going to take the psychological approach of thriller movies. The Black Swan does that and Parasite as well. I am of course going to do things different. My whole concept isn't completely different. But these movies tend to have a ton of silence and few words spoken if any. I don't truly remeber the name of the specfic movie. But I do remeber that it did an amazing job in making me feel truly uncomfortable. The silence was a huge part of it, it is errie and quiet, not in a good way as well. So, I do want to incorporate that and try to make it work. The whole point of thriller to me is make you feel uncomfortable and filled with anxiety. It isn't horror that is for sure, there aren't as much intense moments and it is supposed to scare you which is different from thrillers. True Crime! Some common camera angles and movements that are common in true crime movies are high angles, low angles, close- up and extreme close-up. Tracking shot, long shot, medium close up, medium close-up and tilt are also common. Some common sounds that true crime movies use are diegetic sound and non-diegetic sound. Dialogue, and ambient sounds are also common.  Some common editing techniques that true crime movies use are eye-line match, and shot/reverse shot. Common costumes are regular cloths that people wear every day. Common lighting key lighting, back lighting, soft lighting, and motivation lighting. Common acting is that all actors act casually until someone upsets the balance of life that the directors created.
